I never had a real bagel until I moved to New York. I don't believe that there are better bagels in the world. The average bagel at any bodega is already scoops of cream cheese above most but some bagel shops have become institutions. Go out of your routine and get a whitefish salad on your bagel and ponder why you don't get it more often.
