Hell's Kitchen
This is my go to local joint for Japanese dishes other than just sushi (although its pretty fresh here don't get me wrong). The best thing in my opinion is the soba which can be ordered hot or cold and in any quantity you want for the same price. Many combos also come with side dishes or even curry and everything is well priced. Much of the clientele is actually Japanese and the space is big enough where there is never a wait but also there is plenty of bar seating if you want to sit by yourself without feeling weird. If you'd like to get a little rowdier after dinner, there is a karaoke bar right next door.
