Lower East Side
My friend finally took me to this Israeli diner in the Lower East Side that I've been meaning to go to for a long time. It's mostly know for its brunch but I went for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised. There are many diner staples like hamburgers, salads and fries but with Israeli additions and twists such as labneh and feta. I ordered the baked feta and my friend the chicken kebab both of which were simple and delicious. The baked feta in particular came with a side a tahini to balance out the tartness of the eggplant doused in tomato/pepper sauce. The feta on top was just the right middle group between gooey and crispy. The pita was very soft, fluffy and warm. Overall, this was the perfect light meal. I was also really impressed by the drink options at Spiegel which include sake (cold and hot), delirium tremens and two forks on tap. I look forward to coming back here for brunch.
