San Francisco, USA

I ate a lot of delicious things on my one week trip in SF but the only one I frantically returned to prior to my flight was Tartine Bakery. Plenty of pastries during my travels and days working out of the office have surprised me but didn’t nearly make my heart sing than this ham and cheese croissant. I don’t know what black magic they employ to make this croissant 1. So flaky 2. So buttery 3. So BIG (like almost as large as my face) but this is the best croissant I’ve ever had in my entire life including those I ate in France. The other pastries (frangipane croissant and morning buns) I tried were also great but it was the croissant that blew my mind. My only regret is that I was not able to buy a loaf of bread to sample.
