Santorini, Greece

One of the best things we did in Santorini was make a visit to the Santo Wines Winery and the Santorini Brewing Company. The Santo Wines Winery is the only collective on the island of 1,200 wine producers. It’s specialty is a dessert wine called Vinsanto who’s 1993 edition is 900 euros a bottle. The wine tasting is a particularly good deal and I suggest the 12 glass tasting between two people. My friend and I did the 18 glass tasting and regretted it by the end since most of the wine got warm while sitting on the patio enjoying the incredible view. The tour is also short (30 mins) but informative about the wine growing industry on the island. The Santorini Brewing Company is small (you can see all their fermentation tanks and bottling machine by just walking around) and you can sample all the beer for free. They produce a good wheat beer, a Belgian, and IPA which are all solid and of good quality with no frills or additional flavors or ingredients. The merchandise is all very cool looking and donkey-themed.
