Nikolas Taverna is another great budget option on a very pricey island. It’s located in the city of Fira which was much more lively than Oia close to many bars and shops. The staff is extremely cheerful and home-y and the food tastes like it’s made with care and tradition. Particularly, the octopus in wine sauce was quite good as well as the lamb shank. The other special we tried (stuffed squid) was not as good as the other dishes but the squid was cooked well but was just too heavy with the rice stuffed inside it.
