Midtown
This small unassuming restaurant in Midtown is close by big offices and possesses one Michelin star. Café China serves clean (not an adjective I normally use to describe Szechuan food) and authentic food at reasonable prices. The basics such as the dan dan noodles, wontons in chili oil, and mapo tofu are all surprisingly clean-tasting and flavorful. In particular, the tea smoked duck here is some of the best I've tasted. Note that they also do delivery and have lunch deals (just be careful not to get the chili oil all over your work clothes)
