Expiration time: 3 to 8 days

1. Croutons

Any easy way to use stale bread in salads quickly or store for use later. Recipe here.

2. Stuffing

Slightly old bread is actually better for stuffing at it prevents it from getting too soggy and who doesn’t love stuffing even not during thanksgiving?

3. Meatballs

You can toast the bread in the oven and then break it down and use a blender or food processor to blend it down to crumbs to use for a variety of uses such as meatballs or as a coating on chicken. One of my favorite meatball recipes is for gorgonzola filled ones by the Rachael Ray.

4. Tea sandwiches

The crust is often the first place for mold to grow on bread so cutting it off is a way to preserve most of it. Plus finger sandwiches are super cute whether they have ham cheese lettuce and mayo or Nutella and cookie butter.

5. Microwaving/buying other bread

I’ve found that buying quinoa bread for some reason lasts much longer than normal bread. Particularly if kept in the refrigerator. You can also quickly revive stale bread by covering it with a damp paper towel and then microwaving it quickly for 30 seconds on high.
