Union Square, Lower East Side and Williamsburg

This is my go to if I’m planning on going out afterward around Union Square, LES, or Williamsburg for a cheap and quick dinner. The pork and chive dumplings are decent with particularly thin and crispy skins but it’s really the variety of offerings at this dumpling shop that makes it special. This shop serves a less traditional chicken and basil dumpling and also offers a spicy wonton covered in scallions and chili oil. At one point when you are a bit hungrier, get the sesame pancake which is somewhere between a banh mi and a hamburger. Douse it in hot sauce and dumpling sauce and although it may be a bit dry in the first bite, once you get to the crunchy and flavorful fillings all all the sauce drips down, the last bite will be the best. This place also has noodle soups, bubble tea, and beer/wine (Williamsburg location).

What I order: Fried pork and chive dumplings, sesame pancake with roasted pork

Price: $1.50 to $2.50 for 4
