Hell's Kitchen and Astor Place
The straight noodles are definitely up there however the US locations do not allow for you to choose noodle firmness. What really gets me is the broth. It’s the perfect goldilocks situation of not too salty, too oily, or too thick.
What I have ordered: Shiromaru Hakata Classic, Karaka-men, Akamaru Modern
Average price per bowl: $15
Inside scoop: drop by about an hour early around peak meal times (12-2 lunch, 6-8 dinner) and put your name in the waitlist and they will call you when a table is ready. Then hang out at a bar around for 45 minutes (around the Hell’s Kitchen location I suggest House of Brews for 100+ types of beer or Lillie’s Victorian Establishment two blocks down). The pork buns here are also really good.
